The Chevy Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss is the ultimate development of the ZR2 package that started with the S10 back in 1994. The Desert Boss is designed to go ripping through the desert. Chevy have taken the base truck, reinforced the frame, added some skid plates, made it 3.5″ wider and added 3″ of lift and 33″ off road tires on beadlock capable wheels. To compliment these edterior modifications they’ve included longer cast iron control arms, DSSV shocks, locking front and rear differntials, multiple off-road driving modes that include rock crawling and Baja mode. You even get a sports bar that supports a 40″ factory light bar to see where you’re exploring off road trails at night.

WHAT IT DOES BEST
The ZR2 works well as an every-day driver, but it doesn’t have the ground clearance and articulation to be good in the rocks. Where it really shines is speeding through the flat desert at high speeds, where the suspension soaks up whoops and ruts, leaving a cloud of dust in its wake.
